Drift on Ice with Spikes: Porsche Driving Experience

Ice-Force is one of the advanced levels of the Porsche Driving Experience winter program. The event takes place in Ivalo, Finland, where a frozen lake is divided into specially designed driving areas and handling courses.

Before driving the courses personally, the author joined an experienced Porsche instructor for a passenger ride. The Panamera spent much of the run sideways, demonstrating how a professional controls a sustained drift across ice and snow.

Driving the Porsche Panamera on Ice

The Panamera was equipped with studded winter tires to provide traction on the frozen surface. Despite its large dimensions, it moved through the corners with surprising elegance and remained controllable while drifting.

A dedicated handling course accommodated the Panamera’s size. After the passenger demonstration, the author drove the car, practiced circles and attempted controlled drifts under the winter training conditions.
