Mr. Bean Mini at the International Mini Meeting - Interview

Mr. Bean - who does not know him? The Youtube channel of Mr. Bean is worth seeing and laughing. No, unfortunately I did not have Rowan Atkinson in front of the camera, but Sebastian, the proud owner of the Mr. Bean Mini. Sebastian drove the Mini from his hometown of Munich to Mugello - to the International Mini Meeting - 8 Classic Minis in a group. Also I drove in a Classic Mini Knightsbridge (left of me in the photo) and am always fascinated drove behind the yellow mini with the black hood. Or drove up and had it in the rearview mirror.

When we finally got there Sebastian arrived at the International Mini Meeting for a short interview. After I convinced myself of the beanigen condition of the right-hand drive. have. Yes, the Mr. Bean Mini is fun and pulls one or the other herring from the plate and is great in the curves.

Here are the dates of the story and the mini that Sebastian told me:

The TV series Mr. Bean was filmed between 1989 and 1995.
From the second episode Mr. Bean drives a BMC Mini MK III in Citron. The years of construction vary between 1974-1980. The car is always shown with the license plate SLW 287R. The actual car that drove them was marked GKN 447N, which was first registered in Maidstone in 1974. The Mini was bought by Sebastian in London in January 2013.

A previous owner's son used the car in the 1990s, working for Thames Television, which "coincidentally" produced the Mr. Bean series. There are a total of several Mr. Bean Minis in the color Citron known, of which only a few may have survived the shooting.

The links with the production company could be the crucial clue that the Mini they drove has a past life in front of the camera.

The technical data are:

BMC Mini 1000, so Mini Mark III
He was so from 1972 - Built in 1974.
