The VW Amarok brings you to fly

The VW Amarok, the pickup who is on the road at home as in the area, is now at the airport. No, not as a follow-me-car or to transfer passengers to the plane. That would be too easy. The Amarok has to show what he can do this time. On the runway of the airport he should prove how fast he can accelerate. The VW Amarok achieved in its highest power level 550 Newton meters of torque and up to 193 km/h top. With its 224 hp (165 kW), the sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.9 seconds is possible.

But what happens if he has to do something while accelerating? I looked up: A glider weighs at least about 500 kilograms, a maximum of 850 kilograms. Of course, it is not a block on the ground, but rolls with it, if it can be pulled. Similar to a trailer, the car in the unbraked version must not exceed 750 kilograms. Just to get an idea of ​​what the Amarok is doing in the video.

Who has a glider to fly? brought? So not me. I would never try that either. So please do not imitate what you see in the video if you happen to have a glider and an Amarok V6 at hand and are at the Courchevel airport in the French Alps.

But the Amarok can do it. Which is really a very, very scarce number, because the runway is only 537 meters long. What comes next? No, no safety zone, no rolling surface, it is the yawning abyss, which then opens immediately. Good for the glider pilot, but fatal for the Amarok, if it got too slow, the glider would not go up in the air and maybe both ... no, not think. I think I do not spoil when I say that everything worked out well.

It's still worth watching the video, because it's - despite the predictable outcome - a really exciting story. So I have never seen a power utility vehicle make a glider fly. Exciting to the last tenth of a second ... Watch the movie!
