My test car had the optional paddles on the steering wheel, which I tried out immediately. The 8-speed automatic allows the Amarok in 7.9 seconds to 100 km/h tracked. You forget completely that you drive in a commercial vehicle.

The seat height is enormous and you feel almost regal. Uplifted in the traffic between all the other cars. Otherwise, the pickup ship drives with 5.25 meters from handling like a normal car. The permanent four-wheel drive 4MOTION has its advantages on the road as well as off-road, to do the same.

Broad is the Amarok, of course : Overall, he measures 2.23 meters. With applied ears (side mirrors) it is not quite 2 meters. The Cargobox is 1.62 meters wide, which even allows loading a Euro pallet across the four-door Amarok. I did not want to and did not have to try that. But I wanted to go off-road, sure.

The engine in the Amarok has a fork angle of 90 degrees. This version is known from the Audi A6 and A7 since 2014. Now, the Amarok can also fall back on this technique. In off-road this also feels good and strong in off-road mode. After doing my round in the area with the many different stations, I spontaneously decided to do another lap. It does not get boring to test the off-road capability.

I was amazed by the creative naming and the huge color palette: Candy White, Indium Gray Matt, Ravenna Blue Matt, Chestnut Brown Metallic, Indium Gray Metallic, Mojave Beige Metallic, Ravenna Blue Metallic, Reflex Silver Metallic, Starlight Blue Metallic, Deep Black Pearl Effect, Black Ceramique/Titanium Black/Black. That sounds promising as a commercial vehicle color palette.I've driven this variant!

  • The entry-level double-cabin model is the 103 kW TDI four-cylinder , The Amarok thus starts at less than 26,000 euros net.
  • Worth mentioning is the successful interior design with feel-good character. The premium display (Tochscreen) and the reversing camera with the parking pilot.
